LeasePlan was founded in Amsterdam in 1963 by Anton Goudsmit. The open book concept, based on transparency, was born and enjoyed great success. It became LeasePlan’s philosophy and allowed the group to expand overseas. A wholly-owned Luxembourg company was created in 1989. Today, the LeasePlan group is present in 32 countries around the world.
After more than 50 years (and more than 20 years in Luxembourg), the LeasePlan group has adapted to its environment and grown to a fleet of 1.67 million vehicles today.

Managing a fleet requires an in-depth knowledge of cars, finance, insurance, legal and tax matters, but also your requirements. Because each fleet is unique and because each business has different priorities, we develop solutions that suit the specific needs of every type of business, from the sole trader to SMEs, all the way to the multinational. With LeasePlan, you can be sure that our service will be a perfect fit for your fleet! With us, you will control your costs, irrespective of what might happen.
LeasePlan is a world leader in fleet management and operational leasing. With a presence in 32 countries and more than 7,400 staff, we manage the fleets of more than 75,000 customers. That adds up to a worldwide fleet of 1.67 million cars. Our Luxembourg team of more than 70 professionals manages around 9,000 vehicles.
LeasePlan’s 4 values underlie everything we do and symbolise the fundamental aspects of our identity: commitment, expertise, passion and respect. They inform our approach on a daily basis and have an impact on us, our customers and our suppliers. They are respected by all our employees, who are united through the different cultures, customs and languages that they find in the workplace.
LeasePlan strives for flawless service and quality. This approach has allowed us to obtain ISO 9001:2008 certification. But we are not resting on our laurels. Innovation is at the heart of our business and we are developing other, more sustainable, mobility solutions for the future. Our GreenPlan initiative, certified by TÜV Rheinland Group, allows us to incorporate vehicle fleet management in corporate social responsibility and business mobility programmes.
Our aim is to make fleet management easier for our customers and to enhance our drivers’ mobility. That is why we have identified a number of key factors that will play an important role in the development of car leasing solutions.
In the future, LeasePlan will continue to offer leasing and mobility solutions to customers that make their daily lives easier. We view ourselves as a consultant and forerunner in fleet management and driver mobility. That is why we have built our strategy on four pillars: growth, customer-oriented innovation (customer centricity), operational excellence, and employees and a business culture that are unique.
